US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said at a hearing in the US Congress that if Russia decides to invade the territory of Ukraine, the US will apply sanctions that will lead de facto to the complete isolation of Russia from the global financial system.
As the politician explained, the consequences will be the inability to travel, trade and work for Russians and Russian business.
She did not announce the full scope of the measures that the American parliamentarians intend to apply, but clarified that among them there will be a stop of the Nord Stream-2, which in such a situation the States will expect from Germany.
