The US is imposing sanctions against the operator of the Nord Stream-2

The White House has released a statement by President Joe Biden.

US President Joe Biden announced that the US administration is introducing a new package of restrictive measures.

New sanctions are addressed to the operator of the Russian-German gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2” – companies Nord Stream 2 AG.

According to the American leader, quoted in the White House message, he ordered the administration to introduce restrictive measures against the operator and his leadership.

Joe Biden emphasized that the United States is ready for further steps if Moscow continues to escalate the military conflict in the Donbas.

He believes that by recognizing the People’s republics of the DPR and the LPR, the Russian president gave the world an irresistible incentive to completely abandon Russian gas supplies to Europe and other parts of the world, RIA Novosti reports.

Recall that the capacity of the constructed gas pipeline is 55 billion cubic meters per year.

The operator Nord Stream 2 AG is implementing the project with the sole shareholder – the Russian company Gazprom.

As Topnews wrote earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz instructed the German Ministry of Economy to stop the certification of the gas pipeline, explaining that the recognition of the republics by Russia is a violation of international law.
