A number of parliamentarians were skeptical about the LDPR initiative.
On August 11, the deputy group of the State Duma of the LDPR faction, including parliamentarian Sergei Leonov, intend to propose to the lower house of parliament a bill to increase the minimum wage to 20,000 rubles per month.
According to the head of the Committee on Labor and Veterans ‘Affairs Yaroslav Nilov in the Telegram channel, according to the authors’ idea, the changes should come into force on January 1 next year.
The document says that the source for spending on raising the minimum wage can be funds from the National Welfare Fund, which has 13.5 trillion rubles as of January 1 of this year.
The goal of the project, as follows from the explanatory note, is to help the most vulnerable categories of Russians.
According to them, the low level of the minimum wage leads to an extensive shadow economy, the working poor, corruption and stratification of the population.
The developers stated that the minimum wage even in the developing countries of Asia and Europe is twice as high as the Russian minimum wage.
In response to the proposal, State Duma deputy Adalbi Shkhagoshev said that at the moment the increase in the minimum wage is unrealistic.
He believes that such changes require waiting for the moment when the project is submitted for consideration, and it will be considered by the fresh composition of the State Duma.
“I want to believe that this initiative has been carefully developed and is not related to the elections, because we are talking about very serious figures, “Shkhagoshev commented on the initiative to Izvestia.
According to RBC, the minimum wage from January 1 of this year is 12,792 rubles, the subsistence minimum, which this year was set immediately for 12 months, is 11,653.
In addition, the Russian government has decided to raise the minimum wage to 13,617 rubles from 2022.
The Ministry of Labor, in turn, reported that from 2022 the subsistence minimum for able-bodied Russians will be 13,026 rubles, children — 11,592, pensioners — 10,277.
