The President of the Russian Federation made several statements to the media following the summit in Tehran.
Following the results of the Astana format summit held in Tehran, Russian President Vladimir Putin made several statements to the media that reflect his assessment, including Western energy policy, ITS, the Syrian issue and others.
The Syrian crisis can only be resolved through diplomacy
The leaders of Russia, Iran and Turkey discussed the Syrian issue in Tehran for an hour, agreeing on close cooperation within the framework of normalizing the situation in the Arab Republic.
All sides agreed that the Syrian crisis should be resolved only through negotiations. As for the internal policy of the country, it should be determined by the Syrians themselves, without any outside interference.
At the meeting, Vladimir Putin stated the need for Syrians to be independent in determining domestic policy, without imposing different models and other people’s recipes from the outside.
At the same time, the Syrian authorities have already regained control over most of the country. At the same time, the country needs the support of the international community in restoring infrastructure. He mentioned that the next negotiations should take place before the end of 2022.
Assessing the negotiations that took place, he said that they had agreed with the Iranian president to switch to the use of national currencies in settlements. They discussed the “grain issue” with the Turkish president, according to MK.
Putin appreciated the possibility of meeting with Zelensky
At a press conference with the media following the meeting, the Russian President assessed the prospects for negotiations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. He pointed to Kiev’s refusal to fulfill the previously reached agreements, explaining that Ukraine does not intend to fulfill them now either.
According to Vladimir Putin, in order to create conditions for negotiations, the Russian military withdrew from the center, further from Kiev, but the agreements were not fulfilled, although at that time, they were practically reached.
The Russian leader pointed out that the outcome of the negotiations does not depend on intermediaries, but on the desire of the parties to negotiate and fulfill the agreements.
“We see today that the Kiev authorities have no such desire”, – he said.
As “MK ” clarifies, earlier, Iran’s spiritual leader Khamenei, in an interview with Putin, said that if Russia did not interfere in NATO’s actions in Ukraine, the Alliance would have started the war itself, under the pretext of Crimea.
The next summit of Iran, Turkey and Russia will be held on Russian territory.
Putin: if oil supplies from Russia are restricted, prices will skyrocket
Assessing the energy policy of the West in the oil issue, the Russian president said that Europe is stepping on the same rake as with gas supplies. He called the ideas of limiting the supply of Russian oil and limiting fuel prices “perverse”. And he expressed bewilderment at how people with higher education decide to take such steps.
“The result will be the same – price rise. Oil prices will skyrocket”, – quotes him “TASS ”.
Speaking about the energy crisis in Europe, the president joked that its leaders are no stranger to unconventional solutions. Since the Europeans are great experts in the field of non-traditional relations, they decided to use the same methods in the energy sector, relying on the sun, wind.
“They are great experts in the field of non-traditional relations, so in the field of energy they decided to bet on non-traditional types of energy… The winter turned out to be long, there was no wind, that’s all”, – Putin clarified.
The West itself blocked the gas supply channels
According to Vladimir Putin, now the West is trying to shift its own blame for the energy crisis to the Russian company Gazprom, but it has previously and will continue to fulfill its obligations. The accusations of “closing” energy routes occurred due to European sanctions, he pointed out.

As the President explained, Europe closed one route, then another, and later imposed sanctions on gas pumping stations.
“We are ready to pump as much as necessary, they have closed everything themselves, – the Russian leader explained.
To solve the problem, he proposed to launch Nord Stream-2 and thereby increase gas supplies to Europe, although 50% of the pipeline’s capacity is registered for domestic Russian consumption. However, the route is ready.
“It can be launched “, – Putin said.
