The reason for such joy was the reversal of American LNG tankers from Asia to Europe, to which the market immediately responded with a drop in gas prices. However, after a few hours, prices went up again.
According to the media, the EU violently greeted the news about the reversal of tankers, and the press attacked Gazprom with accusations of another round of price increases against the background of the termination of supplies through the Polish pipe.
However, then it became clear that the morning drop in gas prices on the market was due to the reaction of investors to the reversal of American tankers.
Initially, this was regarded as a new trend in deliveries, but in fact it is not.
As stated by the deputy director of the Institute of National Energy Alexander Frolov, “the massive reversal of” tankers actually occurred in only two vessels.
In addition, he stressed that even with astronomical gas prices in Europe, American LNG will not be able to fully provide Europe.
Asian consumers, in turn, reinsured themselves by concluding long-term contracts so that what is now observed in Europe does not happen to them.
It is known that three-quarters of all LNG is supplied to Asia, and only the remnants can get into the EU, however, without having a significant impact on the energy situation there, Vzglyad reports.
The situation with the reversal of tankers and the reaction to it in Europe caused the ridicule of the presenter of Channel One Artem Sheinin.
He considered the situation absurd and said that the Europeans provoked their own fuel crisis by not wanting to sign long-term contracts with Gazprom. Now, according to the TV presenter, N. noted the absurdity of the situation.
“Okay, they bred Indians for beads. Why do they breed you like Indians?” – Chenini gave a historical example in the studio of the show “Time will tell ”.
To this, Czech expert Jiri Yust accused Moscow of disrupting gas supplies and said that the United States was allegedly trying to level the gas shortage in Europe.
However, in response to this, Shenin recalled how Putin called on Europe to sign long-term contracts, but since this did not happen, Europe’s gas storage facilities literally emptied.
