Medvedev called the reason for the EC decision, which “got diarrhea from fear.”
The Lithuanian Seimas reacted violently to the decision of the European Commission to allow transit to Kaliningrad. The initiator of restrictive measures, Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, was sharply criticized.
The oppositionists in the Sejm demand to punish the minister, and the EC’s decision is assessed as “wise” and insist on its indispensable execution.
In particular, Landsbergis, in their opinion, allowed “arbitrariness ”. Prime Minister Ingrid Shimonite has not officially commented on the decision of the European Commission. And Landsbergis himself said that he would give comments later, as soon as he studied the text of the EC resolution.
As Topnews wrote earlier, according to the EC decision, the transit of goods to Kaliningrad, with the exception of the military, should be resumed.
The former Prime Minister of Lithuania, the head of the party “In the Name of Lithuania” Saulius Skvernalis believes that serious doubts have arisen about the competence of the head of the Foreign Ministry. In the near future, they intend to interview him, clarifying how negotiations with the EC were conducted and for what reason such a decision was made.
Skvernalis believes that, probably, Lithuania has not justified its position, and has spoiled the image as a solid country. He called the unilateral work of the head of the Foreign Ministry a big mistake, which is intolerable.
The EC’s decision was also called wise by ex-Deputy Interior Minister Gedrus Surplis, he called it “rational” and the fact that “it must be executed… as it is prescribed ”.
In general, he believes that not so much cargo is being transported through Lithuania to Kaliningrad, and the blockade will do more harm to Lithuania than to Russia, MK reports from his words.
In turn, Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said on the TG channel that the reluctant decision of the European Union is nothing but recognition of the fairness of Russia’s transit requirements to our Kaliningrad Region.;.
He also called the EC’s decision a rare case of the victory of reason over the cretinism and cave Russophobia reigning in Europe.
The second reason for such a decision, the politician called Europe’s fear of losing profitable transit. In his opinion, the EU literally got diarrhea from fear of economic losses.
