German Uniper found it possible to pay for Russian gas in euros

SOCAR also stated that Azerbaijan will not pay for Russian gas in rubles. The German energy company Uniper has found a way to pay for Russian gas in euros without violating Russia’s requirements for payment in rubles.

As Bloomberg writes with reference to a representative of the concern, in the future it is possible to process payments in euros while fulfilling all the requirements of the Russian side to make payments for gas supplied in rubles.

However, exactly how they plan to do this is not disclosed.

The German company stressed that they strive to comply with all sanctions against Russia.

Meanwhile, SOCAR (the energy company of Azerbaijan) reported that they refuse to make payments with Russia for imported gas in rubles.

This statement was issued as a refutation of the information that appeared in the media that the Azerbaijani authorities declared their readiness to carry out all mutual settlements with Russia for imported gas in rubles.

It should be noted that the term of the agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan is concluded until 2023, which includes gas supplies in the summer and winter seasons, depending on the level of consumption and production in the country.
