“I'm starting to think it's useless”: Italian Prime Minister Draghi described Putin's reaction about negotiations with Zelensky

The Italian Prime Minister spoke about Putin’s position on the meeting with Zelensky.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi gave a great interview to Corriere della Sera.

In an interview with journalists, he said that he was beginning to consider telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin useless.

Draghi said that on March 30, during one of these conversations, he asked Putin when he would hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Putin then said that the time had not yet come for this.

Draghi noted that he insisted on ceasefire agreements, but in response he received a statement again that the time had not yet come for this.

As a result, the leaders of the two countries decided to call after a while, but then there were reports about the situation in Bucha.

“I’m starting to think that those who say it’s useless to talk to him are right, only to waste time”, – said Draghi.

In addition, Draghi said that Italy had proposed to introduce a ceiling on prices for natural gas exported by Russia, more than half of which Europe buys today.

He called the EU’s market power in relation to Moscow a weapon that needs to be used.

Prior to that, Zelensky said that negotiations with Moscow would be terminated if the AFU forces were defeated in Mariupol.
