The businessman also pleaded guilty to one of the charges against him.
Russian banker and businessman Oleg Tinkov has pleaded guilty in an American court to charges of tax evasion under an agreement with the US Department of Justice.
According to the results of the court hearing, he agreed to pay $506 million in compensation.
The trial was conducted online. Tinkov participated in it via video link from London.
It is noted that the above amount is not a fine for punishment, and the verdict will be officially pronounced on October 29.
According to investigators, Tinkov provided false information about his assets after renouncing American citizenship in 2013.
A criminal case was opened in the United States, according to which he was threatened with 6 years in prison.
However, in the lawsuit, the parties reached a settlement agreement and the amount of compensation consists of US tax losses ($240 million), including interest and penalties ($448 million), as well as additional tax liabilities.
In terms of imprisonment, the parties came to the conclusion that the sentence already served for a year in London, when he was restricted in movement, with supervision for a year and a fine of $250 thousand, will be counted as punishment.
