Russians will be obliged to pay tax on deposits by the end of 2023

“Izvestia” found out how the new gratuitous fee will be calculated.

Russians in the new year, 2023, will have to pay tax on income from deposits for the first time.

Thus, interest income in the amount of 75,000 per year will fall under the new gratuitous payment. The condition will be the key rate, which should not exceed 7.5% as at the moment.

As “Izvestia” writes, the tax will be levied at the rate of 13%, and charged depending on the key rate. The calculation of the maximum interest income that will not be taxed will also change.

Previously, in order to calculate its amount, it was necessary to multiply 1 million rubles by the level of the key rate at the beginning of the year. Now, when calculating the key rate indicator, it will be taken into account for the entire year.

As a result, according to experts of the publication, Russians will pay for the income received in 2023 until December 2024.

The second change: when calculating the tax, not the amount of deposits will be taken into account, but only the income received by the citizen.

Recall that the initiator of the new tax in 2020 was the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The first payment of the new tax was supposed to take place this year, but the authorities exempted Russians from paying against the background of the current economic situation.

As Topnews wrote in January of this year, the deposit tax will affect Russians with deposits of 700,000 rubles.
