Moscow authorities plan to abandon migrants at construction sites

The capital’s vice-mayor spoke about the reduction in the number of workers.

Moscow authorities are preparing a plan to reject migrants at construction sites in the capital. This was told by Vice-Mayor Andrey Bochkarev, who predicted global changes in the construction industry.

In an interview with RBC, Bochkarev said that a renovation program is being implemented in Moscow, but there are not enough personnel on construction sites – workers, engineers. The pandemic has also worsened the situation – many migrants have gone home.

Now 40 thousand out of 120 thousand workers remain in Moscow. At the moment, the lack of resources is 40%, Bochkarev notes.

It is also noted that natives of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan work at the capital’s construction sites, and previously most were from Tajikistan. At the same time, the number of residents of the Moscow region has also increased, but many specialists simply do not exist.

According to the vice-mayor, on average, migrants receive about 50-60 thousand rubles, i.e. the salary has increased by 2 times.

“But many already over 80 thousand do not want to work,” says Bochkarev.

Now the authorities are busy with the task of developing a strategy, during the implementation of which the construction sites will do without migrants. The construction process will require 3 times fewer people, but their salary will be 2-3 times more.

At the same time, according to the authorities, they will start building faster. So, instead of four workers, it will be possible to install an installation that will apply mortar to the wall.

The metropolitan authorities will also deal with the quality of education in the construction industry. Currently, only 10-15% of the time during studies is devoted to the methods of site management.

More time is spent on industrial construction – calculations, formulas, etc.

“You go to an American construction site, the workers are all hung with tools. Because they get their money for performance. It may seem like a trifle, but this is how one person replaces three. We need to create such educational programs,” says Bochkarev.

The Ministry of Economic Development supported the replacement of migrants by Russian citizens at construction sites. So, Deputy Minister Dmitry Volvach is sure that the idea will not be implemented immediately, but measures can already be taken now.

According to Volvach, it is important to focus on paid jobs, on Russian personnel and high-tech.

Volvach also proposed to attract trained migrants from neighboring countries to construction sites in Moscow.

In an interview with Lenta.” the idea of rejecting migrants was criticized by economist Alexey Korenev. According to him, the implementation of this program requires financial investments, the purchase of high-quality equipment, etc.

The expert also recalled that Vladimir Putin declared in 2020: Russia cannot do without migrants. The economist suggests that the vice-mayor wanted to “please Muscovites” who are tired of visitors.

As Topnews wrote earlier, the media reported on booklets in Moscow maternity hospitals, in which it was said in different languages about payments to migrants of 20 thousand rubles for the birth of the first child. 700 million rubles were allocated from the Moscow budget for this.
