Experts: the mayor’s plans to introduce duties on beer, wine and perfumes from the EU will deal a “serious blow” to the consumer

Experts: the MAYOR's plans to introduce duties on beer, wine and perfumes from the EU will deal a

Experts predict the disappearance of consumer goods from the shelves and an increase in unemployment.

Two Russian departments, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are considering the possibility of increasing customs duties on a number of goods from the EU, and restrictions on the import of Russian steel to Europe are also being worked out.

According to the press service of the RBC departments, officials are still assessing the feasibility of such measures in response to EU sanctions. Also the subject of discussion is the list of goods that may affect the increase in the fee.

Recall that the earlier edition of Vedomosti suggested that the increase in duties would affect the cost of consumer goods imported from the European Union.

An insider of the publication said that it could be about such popular products among Russians as a number of wines, beer, perfumes, decorative cosmetics. The growth of duties on agricultural equipment, refrigerators, shoes and other goods is also predicted.

Despite the fact that the size of the new duties is still unknown, experts are already predicting rates up to prohibitive.

According to the expert, the head of the company “Interportfolio” and a member of the Board of Support Alexey Kanevsky, once taken, these measures are capable of inflicting a serious blow to Russian consumers.

He assumed that the goods would rise sharply in price, or disappear from store shelves altogether. Against the background of a decrease in the purchasing power of the population, products may be unnecessary in Russia.

“Most likely, products..  it will slowly leave the market, “- quotes Kanevsky radio “KP ”.

Moreover, there will be nothing to replace it in the next ten years, he added, mentioning export wine and beer as an example.

“There is Krasnodar wine and Ochakov beer. But it is not necessary to compare it with the original drink from Germany or France in this case,” Kanevsky believes.

He also said that thousands of people may be out of work because transport, trading companies and manufacturers will start leaving the market.

Today, the ministry recalled that in June of this year, the EU extended restrictions on the import of some Russian steel products to the Union countries for another three years.

So, deliveries that exceed a certain quota are subject to a duty of 25%. And according to the WTO agreement, in response, Russia can suspend trade concessions, doing so to the extent that Russian exporters were harmed.

The experts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade explained to the media that the ratification of the retaliatory measure may actually include a unilateral increase by the Russian side of import customs duties on certain types of products, but did not specify which goods are in question.

The second option of retaliatory measures may be “suspension of tariff preferences in relation to the EU,” the Ministry of Industry and Trade explained.

Officials assure that these measures cannot be called sanctions, but they will work until the EU protective measure is lifted.

As Topnews wrote earlier, Russia may introduce new duties on purchases in online stores.

The US Treasury warned about the default, naming its exact date

The US Treasury warned about the default, naming its exact date

This will be the first time in the country’s history and will cause irreparable damage to the US economy, but also to the global financial markets.

By October 18, monetary reserves in the United States may be completely exhausted and the ability to fulfill obligations may be lost.

To prevent this situation, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen sent a letter to Congress, where she stated the urgent need to either increase or freeze the national debt ceiling.

Yellen stressed that if no measures are taken in the near future, the Ministry of Finance will exhaust the potential of its emergency measures, after which the Ministry will not be able to fulfill its obligations.

This will be the first time in the country’s history and will entail not only irreparable damage to the US economy, but also to global financial markets, Prime reports.

It is noteworthy that today the Congress is also considering a bill on the abolition of restrictions on borrowing until the end of 2022.

It is worth noting that on July 31, the US Congress has already frozen the threshold of the national debt, but its threshold has not been lowered and is now approaching the maximum mark.

It should be noted that in Congress, Republicans are in favor of another lowering of the threshold, but on the condition that the Joe Biden administration and the Democrats will take steps to reduce the national debt, as well as reduce spending.

Earlier, Topnews wrote that Zyuganov gave a rather disappointing forecast for the economic state of Russia, calling signs of a new default in the country.

Expert: Poland’s lawsuit against Gazprom led to a sharp increase in gas prices in Europe

Expert: Poland's lawsuit against Gazprom has led to a sharp increase in gas prices in Europe

Analysts believe that the reason for this was the $ 3 billion lawsuit won against Gazprom.

Experts believe that Warsaw’s policy on legal claims against Gazprom has led to an increase in fuel prices for European residents.

According to energy expert Boris Martsinkevich, quoted by the YouTube channel “Baltnews”, prices in long-term contracts can no longer protect Europeans from the rising cost of blue fuel on spot markets. And & #8220;thank you” for this, his opinion should be told to Poland.

It was the Polish company PGNiG that last year won a court in Stockholm with Gazprom, forcing it to take into account market conditions when concluding contracts.

As a result, the Russian monopoly was forced to pay $ 3 billion, and this year Russian gas is growing in price, only a few months behind the spot. And the rise in price comes precisely in “long” contracts.

Thus, the company “carefully collects all the money spent on the claim & #8221; from Europe.

“It will collect both for the second and third time,” says Martsinkevich.

He added that, for example, for Bulgaria, $ 230 per thousand cubic meters at the beginning of the year turned into a price of $570 in September. And this is just a & # 8220;rehearsal” of what kind of gas future awaits all EU countries.

According to Gazprom Export, spot fuel prices affect it by 83%.

According to Martsinkevich, now & #8220;Gazprom & #8221; is counting on $ 269.6 per 1,000 cubic meters, at the beginning of the year the price was $ 170.

In October, the adjustment may exceed the mark of 300, if not 400 dollars, the analyst predicts.

As Topnews wrote, Poland is among the opponents of the Russian-German gas project.

Gazprom’s contract with it expires next year, but Warsaw does not rule out that deliveries will continue.

The media told about the new reform of pension savings, supported by the Ministry of Finance

The media told about the new reform of pension savings supported by the Ministry of Finance

The agency offers a scheme similar to the relationship between a bank and a client on deposit deposits.

The media learned that on September 24, during a meeting on the funded component of mandatory pension insurance, the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov announced that the ministry supports the changes of the funded part, which has been frozen since 2014, to a voluntary standardized NGO scheme, which will work according to uniform rules.

As Kommersant reports, citing sources in the pension market and the government, in fact, the scheme, which was conditionally called OPS, resembles the relationship between a client and a bank on deposits.

That is, the transfer of funds from the fund to another fund means the termination of contractual relations with one non-state pension fund and a contract with another, in which the accumulated money is transferred in a non-cash form.

The ministry also expressed support for the creation of a system that would guarantee the rights of Russians who have joined voluntary programs.

At the same time, the issue for further discussion remains the stimulation of the voluntary transition of Russians to the new pension formation system.

We will also discuss tax deductions under the new scheme and co-financing.

According to experts, it is the nature and scope of these incentive measures that will affect whether the restart of the OPS will be successful.

In turn, State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab, speaking with the publication “Duma TV”, said that the pension reform in Russia is “long overdue”.

She explained that the freezing of the funded part of the pension, which has been going on for seven years, prevents Russians from forming their pension savings.

“The Ministry of Finance offers a rather interesting scheme,” the politician believes.

As Topnews wrote earlier, Russian trade unions proposed to cancel the funded part of the pension earlier.

Gazprom has signed a contract for the supply of gas to Hungary for 15 years, angering Ukraine

Gazprom has signed a contract for the supply of gas to Hungary for 15 years, outraging Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine accused Hungary of signing a “political contract” to the detriment of the Ukrainian economy. Hungary responded to Kiev.

Gazprom of Russia has signed a gas supply contract with Hungary for a period of 15 years, according to which Russia will supply 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Hungary.

According to the agreements reached, the terms of the contract can be adjusted after ten years from the date of entry into force.

The signatures on both sides were put by Dmitry Averkin, Deputy General Director of Gazprom Export, and Gyorgy Kovor, Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian energy company MVM Group.

However, the signing of a non-political contract caused an angry reaction from the Kiev authorities.

In particular, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called Hungary’s decision exclusively political and economically unjustified.

Moreover, the contract, as stressed in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, was concluded solely to please the Kremlin and to the detriment of the national interests of Ukraine, which will certainly affect Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.

The reason for this was the possibility of uninterrupted gas supply to Hungary by the shortest route through the gas transportation system of Ukraine.

In response, the Hungarian authorities accused Kiev of interfering in the internal affairs of the country, expressing a note of protest.

As the Hungarian Foreign Ministry stressed, on the issue of cooperation with Russia, the Hungarian authorities themselves will decide which way to move, and no one has the right to influence this.
